Plan around real cooking habits
Start with the way food is stored, prepared, cooked and cleaned up. The dry and wet zones, worktop space and movement between fridge, sink and hob should support the household rather than follow a generic arrangement.
Confirm appliances before fabrication
Fridge, oven, hob, hood, dishwasher, washer and small appliances affect cabinet openings, ventilation, power points and countertop cuts. Models and dimensions should be coordinated before production.
Design the inside of the cabinets
Drawer heights, corner access, tall storage, cleaning supplies, bins and frequently used items should be discussed before selecting only the exterior laminate.
Keep services maintainable
Plumbing joints, valves, sockets, ventilation and access panels should remain reachable after the kitchen is complete. A seamless appearance should not make future maintenance unnecessarily destructive.
